is a range of low cost microprocessors compatible with the Athlon, so x86 architecture . Were designed to compete with the Celeron line of processors from Intel.
The main difference between the Athlon and Duron Duron is that they only have 64 Kbytes of second level cache (L2), compared to 256 KBytes of the Athlon.
Core Applebred
The core "Applebred" is the second core of Duron. This core is based on the Thoroughbred core of the Athlon XP. It was released in 2003 and worked at a clock frequency between 1.4 and 1.8 GHz, with a bus of 133 MHz (266 MHz DDR effective by technology).

enthusiasts have discovered that the Duron Applebred are actually Athlon XP Thoroughbred with extra cache disabled. Some of them have succeeded in turning these into their equivalent Duron Athlon XP with all their second-level cache (L2).
